Former Tonight Show Music Director, Tommy Newsom assembles a who's-who of jazz musicians in this 14 song salute to one of America's greatest songwriters. Classic Johnny Mercer selections such as "Satin Doll", "Something's Gotta Give", "Moon River" and "One for the Road" are included in this set. Vocals are superbly performed by David Seering; Ed Shaughnessy is on drums. Ross Tompkins, Bob Bain and Andy Simpkins, with a guest appearance by Chuck Berghofer, round out the rhythm section. Newsom's arrangements include his big band horn section as well as a lush 15 piece string section. Recorded at Capitol "A" in Hollywood.
